I'm hoping to swap one with a friend who has a 99 GS and see if that makes a difference.

I guess I don't understand misfiring and knocking enough to understand what would be causing so much KR, so many misfires, yet the PCM isn't storing any codes, yet the car is acting funny...

Are any other ICMs compatible other then ones from 3.8s?

If it'* running that poorly and you're not getting any codes, it almost makes me think the PCM could be to blame.

if the plugs and the wires have been replaced, and still a misfire look at the ICM or the coil packs

Don't take this as insult, but have you verified that your plug wires are connected properly? Makes me wonder if you have one crossed.

I had a similar problem with my '96 Bonneville SE. Intermittant stalling, surging and sometimes hardstarts but no engine codes!! .

Finally I check my fuel presure regulator by looking at the vacuum line attached to it and saw fuel leaking. Check your Fuel pressure reg. It'* easy and the part is only about $50.

Default misfire

Maybe its not electrical.
could be a dirty maf, IAC, or vacume leak. did you put your O-ring on the PCV?
Water in the fuel was my culprit on the 96 when it wouldn't idle.
Added isopropal gas dryer and it was fixed in 5 min.
