Hahaha...all I do is buy the $40 at the parts store...They work great.....My car blows at about 32* Untill it started leaking form what looks to be a 9mm round hole in the condenser.

I would discharge/vent the A/C system to atmosphere. The refrigerant evaporates as soon it is released. Venting the R134a to atmosphere from one car isn't going to destroy the ozone layer. I know it'* against the law.

There are only two ways to do it. Either vent it to atmosphere or recover it. Simple as that. One is technically illegal.

Also alot of auto salvage yards do freon recovery and might do yours for a little coin cuz they do sell the refrigerant. Atleast the few I goto do..
