A/C compressor question
I was trying to se if the A/C clicks on and off but I need to know that if its cold out will the compressor turn on? Its 45 deg out here in chicago.
the ac compressor will cylcle if theres enough freon in it any time your heat is on (some cars its just defrost and some its any heat mode and it won't cycle if its in economy mode)...it acts as a humidifier to keep you from drying out, sorta like a humidifeir in your house...if its not cycling during winter then somethings wrong...l

There is a temp sensor the will tell it when not to turn on if its cold a nuff out.
I think its some where around 38-45*F or something like that.
Because my AC is 100% fine and when its 35 or so out it will Not kick on.
it won't turn on fully but it should still cycle...theres a low pressure switch and the pressure is lower when its cold...you could have a small leak and its setting off the low pressure switch when it gets cold enough, which disables the compressor...iif there is a leak it will eventually stop working all together

Umm no, no leak, and not just my Bonnie does it.
My dads 96 Caprice, Moms 93 Bronco, Brothers 94 Bronco, Brothers 2002 Jeep all do the same thing
you dont need a dehumidifier in the winter, the heat does that just fine and also the air in winter is WAY more less humid.

my 99 sle cycles with the heat on, my 94 cycles with the heat on...and evey one of the hundreds of vehicles i've worked on at my job...it will not run if its could enough if its set on ac...but it will definantly cycle in heat mode or defrost the temp sensor is only for ac mode....and i said it acts like a humidifier not dehumidifier..maybe i misread assumed he meant with heat on,

ok but when did you test this?
At 40* or even 38*, cuz if so, there could have been heat coming from a warm motor (if it was warm) that maid the air temp be warm a nuff for them to kick on.
I dont know man, but all i know is my AC is fine and it will not kick on unless its warm a nuff.
And when i looked in the book it only stated that it will not Turn on unless its 43*F.
I tend to be leave the FSM.
