Default a/c compressor is "purring"

hey everybody,

when i drive my bonnie on low rev'*(1700-2500rpm) the a/c compressor starts to "purr" like

a kitten ,ans it does not matter if its on or off

is it possible to fix without replacing it with a new one?

if i'll look hard enough i might find a second hand one(its gonna take time in israel),

i can buy a new one, but it will cost me around the 800$(!!!),

anyone?

Never heard of an A/C compressor purring, but have heard one rattle a little when the clutch plate was sitting too close. If that'* what you mean.

See if this is what yours is doing. It has a nice video in it.
