The compressor takes a lot to turn it, therefore the engine compensates by increasing rpm a bit.

This is normal. I would suggest that you reach over and press the A/C button to turn it off when you aren't using it. All it does is use more fuel.

On most cars the A/C compressor will cylcle off and on when defrost is selected. Make sure you have not got defrost selected and see if it still does this. If it does there is something wrong if it doesn't this may be a sign that your A/C pressure is weak and needs recharging that is why it keeps cycling. Dan

Default 1994 A/C cycles

I have been trying to find someone that can explain to me why with the A/C charged to the appropriate range my compressor continues to cycle every 4 seconds. The A/C still is not very cool at all. I have taken it to have it repaired and they simply charged it and said they could not find any problems.
I have to assume this 4 second cycle is not normal.
Can you help explain what I need to do to test or repair this issue?
