Default Burning Smell & My Bonny Hardly Rolls

I had this problem before for a short while after it was worked on, but was real bad today. It'* like the car will hardly roll even down a hill, & I smell something like burning rubber coming from under the hood (from stage left it seems).

No noise though. Just a real resistance to the car'* roll when I let off the gas pedal, followed by the burning smell. The problem comes & goes.

Any ideas?

Stuck brake caliper, your brakes are stuck on.

Check to see if one of your wheels is getting hotter than the others. Be careful you don't burn yourself when you check.

Thanks again for the quick responses! I'll check it out. Funny though that wouldn't make some noise.

Do your brakes make noise when you use them? Same thing when it'* stuck. If it'* making noise, then you have a lot of damage to that brake.

No noise that I've noticed for either way, so that sounds like good news.

I took it out a couple times today & it didn't happen, though after a stop I did get a whiff of that same burning-rubber-like smell from the right front wheel. I can see the rotor & the caliper right through the cross-lace wheel. Wheel wasn't hot but the caliper was kind of making a tapping noise, probably from cooling.

Any quick fix, like spraying it with something through the cross-lace wheel?

No quick fix. You will need to remove the caliper and rebuild it or replace it.

Unless it'* the rubber in the brake line causing a check valve like function. Might explain the intermittent symptoms.

Thanks much again, guys! I'll take it to a pro for service.

Funny, that'* the wheel that Chevy dealer mech had to remove to change my belts; & that was about the time I 1st noticed the problem, along with others. It went away for awhile though - pretty intermittent but when it happens I can definitely tell from the heavy drag & smell that follows.
