Bucking problem

Default Bucking problem

Hello all,

I have a 93 Bonneville SE and early today it started running poorly on my way home. Last weekend I did a tuneup on the car. I changed the plugs, wires, air filter, oil, and oil filter. The car ran great all week then today all of the sudden it started acting funny. The car starts bucking/surging around 2000 rpm. The tach kept jumping and the car bucked/surged, but did not stall. It did this when I was on level ground and going up hills. Going down hill it did not do it. I'm thinking it could be the fuel filter or a clogged catalytic converter. Any other ideas?

Check your plug wires. Pay close attention to the #4 and #6 wires. These can get to close to the O2 sensor wire. This can cause problems. Make sure these wires are not close to each other.

I checked the plugs yesterday, but didn't notice anything. Today the car started up and ran fine. No surging or anything while running. I drove it around for a half hour or so going up and downhill and on level ground without any problems. I will check the #4 and #6 wires just to be sure though. I also changed out the TPS, could that have caused the problem?

Changing the TPS may have corrected the problem. The TPS is what tells the PCM where the throttle is.
