We had a little get together Sunday with Echo, Big_News, and myself, one of the things we did was change out the brake pads on the front of the car. I checked back, and found out the last time they were changed was March of last year. The passenger side weren't terrible, about half the pad was left, however drivers side the pad had been worn a little more than half way, to almost nothing (degrading to the point that half of the drivers side pad was worn thin)
Went and picked up some lube for caliper, and finished the job, but I was wondering if anyone knew if there was anything else I should be looking at, or if I can just forget about it and check it in another 6 months or so. Also is there another reason that one brake pad could wear out so unevenly?

I can think of a few things that would cause that kind of uneven wear.

1. Caliper piston sticking in the bore
2. Caliper not sliding properly on the pins
3. Rubber brake hose to caliper deteriorated internally prevents full pressure release
4. Brake booster failing not allowing brakes to completely release

I'll try to get a picture of them on tonight, I pulled them outta the trash and saved them. How easy is that brake hose to change out? I'm starting to make a good weather checklist for the move to MN, (one more week!) I do have to say I feel a lot better moving now that BigNews is down here to take care of Echo

Alright here is the picture of the brake pad.. Pardon the shoe, but it was hard to get a good backdrop and still be able to see the wear on the pad, this is driver'* side, the worse end of the pad is on the left side of the photo. Keep in mind while looking at this the other pad was worn only half way or so

Mike, you may want to post a picture of the pad from the passenger side for comparison. Try to get them side by side so the guys can see what we saw.

That'* the outter pad. On the back of that pad are two nubs that position the pad in place within the caliper and then the metal clip holds the pad to the caliper working with the nubs.

One nub wasn't in the hole on the caliper causing the pad to be closter to the rotor on one side and wear unevenly from rear to front. The front nub was the one out of place.

Mike, If you are pretty sure that the caliper is moving properly and have not noticed any evident pad rubbing or sticking in the past year, Bill'* theory could be a possibility. It does seem to me though, that there is just an awful lot of total wear on that driver'* pad, when compared to the pass. side.

I guess I would be just as inclined to review all the items that Bill Buttermore mentioned. Is there any physical reason for you to supect the brake hose? If not and if your brakes seem to be working fine with no rubbing, I would likely just wait for six months then review that side again.
