The majority (if not all) of these starters are rebuilt. So, it depends on the shop that rebuilds these starters as to how long they will last. If you got a lifetime warranty on this starter that would be a good thing. However, a lifetime warranty does NOT necessarily mean it was rebuilt any better than one that comes with a 90 Day Warranty. Remember, Advanced Auto is not sitting on their backs removing and reinstalling that starter.
But to answer your question, the dealer tends to sell better rebuilt starters BUT at a Price.

I believe the brand said "Allied" ? Not 100%, yes it is a lifetime replacement but when im 200 miles from hone in a suit and tie Id rather have it work but I guess seeing as how it was a factory starter I replaced... My Bonnie has the orignal starter with 208k miles and she works fine !

A starter or alternator can be good or bad, they can last hundreds of thousands of miles or not.

I've had AC Delco alternators/starters go bad in months and others like Allieds go or last just the same.

Enjoy the lifetime warranty and be happy.
