Default bought a Bonneville today 8-25-02

Champagne colored 99 Bonneville SE, 44K miles.
She is really clean, the previous owner documented service, maintenance records.
The exterior paint-body are perfect.
My wife and I started out looking at the Grand Prix GT 3800 cars....She liked their sporty look.....I spent a few weeks looking at and driving GT'*, however could not strike a deal.
From driving GPGT'* I came to respect the 3800 engine.
Test drove this Bonneville today, liked the power, was very impressed with its steering, handling, and in general felt a good "connection" with this car.........Struck a deal at what I feel is a fair value.......Could not get that feeling or deal with the GPGT'*.
So now we have a Bonneville and I am glad to have found this forum.

Default Teuobk

Teuobk,
Thanks for the welcome.
My wife wanted a Grand Prix because she likes the sporty looks.
The prices they were asking for Grand Prix'*, though, were just more than I thought was reasonable.
Then I saw this '99 Bonnieville on a lot, learned it had the same 3800 engine, noticed how clean and well maintained she was, and took her for a test drive.
On the drive I was hooked immediately.
It took me a few hours to get my wife to agree to give this car a try.
She liked the power and drive fine but said it looked like "her dad'* car".
The car already has some nice chrome aftermarket wheels and I plan to get the windows tinted soon......Hopefully she will come to like the car as much as I do.
She does have a forty mile highway commute each day and I think she'* going to come to appreciate the smooth Bonneville highway ride.
Plus we have a twenty month old son in a car seat so the extra room is also nice.

Gotta get some pics of your car up so we can drool over your new ride.

From what I have heard here on the forum, and friends who drive GP'*, you will be much more impressed with the driveability, performance, and maintaince of the Bonneville over the GP. My '95 SSEi is just a hair slower than my friends '98 GTP but with my wider tires I can corner twice what he can. My car has also withstood my extreme driving better than any other car I have ever owned. She'll come around.

If sporty looks is an issue, just check out some of the Bonnevilles we have in here already. Many have chrome rims, window tint, and other exterior mods which make them look just sweet. You can see others rides in the "your ride" section of the forum or even checking out homepages through links provided in the members list.

Well, good luck with your new ride and welcome to the Forum.

Congrats.. and welcome..
The GP may have a sportier look.. but I also noticed around my area that there is so many GP and GA that they are just about as common as Neons, Cavaliers and Civics.. the Bonnie may look like a grandpa car.. but I've raced a few riced out cars.. and needless to say.. my Bonnie Bonnie smoked all of them ( knock on wood so far and my car is stock with the exception of 180 thermostat $6 bucks.. gutted the airbox.. ran a dryer duct half *** ram air into the airbox and removed the MAF screen.. and they do make a difference) looks like a "Grandpa car" that the cops stops behind me for a bit.. think.. nah.. and shoot right after the other cars that I just smoked and give them tickets.. this has happend twice already and I only have mine for a little less then a month.. so you can tell your wife that Bonnies have the balls to back it up.. but yet.. a perfect sleeper for any ahem... cough.. cough... fast driving without drawing too much attention to them.

NIce to see another 99 in the forum WELCOME.
as for suspension mods i woudl stick w/ what u have because if your drivig on the highaway alot u dont need or want a harsh ride.
what you should do now...... is 2 things
get a cone style K&N airfilter ( doa search youlll find the part # i think its re9020 )
then get some valvoline throttle body cleaner. take off your mass airflow sensor screen and spray down the throttle body. You wil get NOTICABLE improvement vs what u have now.
doa search for more details.

also a fuel filter and tranny flush would be a good thing ot do right about now

as fasr as looks 20% tint is awesome but find out the laws are first, i got busted already. lol

if you want to see some basic mods/ appereance things take a peak at my site i have done alot to make it different and i havent even begun.
good luck
