On Jan. 25 I rear-ended a '95 Bonneville with my Beretta. I was going 40MPH and skidded about 12ft before impact. Now I've got this estimate that seems to be a major rip, because i asked to settle privatelly.

The estimate included Bumper cover, paint, clear coat, impact absorbers, and get this.... A REAR FILLER PANEL. Now with my knowledge of accidents it takes a lot harder hit to cause a bumper move big enough to destroy a filler panel. I would not consider this a major accident of that degree... in fact it appeared on the scene that the damage was only superficial. I can stretch to the impact absorbers, but a FILLER PANEL.

I know this may seem petty, but they want me to pay labor and parts on this filler panel. How likely is it that this estimate is accurate? More importantly does a filler panel cost $80?

Please help me, I can't cover this with less then 2 paychecks. The total was $502.27. I thought I'd consult you folks that know all about these cars. Help a fellow GM owner out.... PLEASE.

Any input is appreciated,

Jason (1990 Beretta Indy3.1L[not paid for yet])

this is not me but im trying to help out a fellow gm friend

$500 is cheap dude.

I'm trying to replace my rear bumper cover now, and a factory new one costs $580!!! While an aftermarket duplicate costs only $340. I'd say pay the $500 and live with it. Seriously, things could be much much much worse. My car was rearended in a parking lot and it was $1700 to fix, granted, I paid none of it since I was not even in the car at the time.

My front end 5KM hit last January cost $3500.00 CDN to fix!!! I say pay the $500 and move on too! That'* very cheap considering the parts involved!
