blower motor
mine wont throw any kind of air and when its -15 degrees its really cold to drive without any heat so heres the deal i was cruising around looking at a 87 mustang convtible and i noticed my heat i had it on manual high the electric climate control with the fun little auto button that i never use but ok so i had it on high and noticed it was blowing really weak so i turned it down and turned it back up and nothing was blowing so my ? is how hard is it to change and can i beat on it with say a hammer to get it going til i get a new one

Search air mix actuator. I think there's been 3 or so lately. It's cold here, -9 right now.

hmmm none of those seem like what i had happen but i gotta fix it before i put my kids in the car so ill check it in the morning freezing my nads off.
i hear stuff moving when i hit the recric button but still no air blowingmaybe it is my blower who knows dan your alot of help on this forum. thanks alot |

well i went outside to smoke and figured while i was at it id check the blower motor again this time i went out with the ol faithful hammer tappped it once and it turned on so now i think ill give it a few days and see if it cuts out again and if it does hopefully its warmer out there and ill replace it

It's a good chance the brushes are shot on the motor. This should be all you need.

A trick you might be able to use to get the blower trucking until you put the new one in... Tap it with something. Coming cross country in the heat of the summer my shoe worked well at a Steak N Shake around Nebraska.
To swap it out is pretty easy until it's cold. Pull the 4 13mm bolts off the strut tower bar and remove it. Then you can get to the blower motor, a family of 7mm or 8mm bolts hold it in. That's the tough part...gloves and small bolts don't mix. Wiggle it out and fiddle with it for a while to find the right spot to remove it. You might need to remove the rear engine bracket (2 13mm nuts) that has the fuel lines and O2 clipped to it. Overall it shouldn't take you long at all, but it's cold out. |
