Jeez, here in the Chicago area we just buy the stuff at Wal-Mart or any other discount outlet. I don't understand why it would be hard to get... unless you live so far north that no one has A/C up there...?

I wonder why its so hard too.. our wally world and crappy tire don't carry them @ all. Oh well.. still have some around ( courtesy of tamara'* dad ) so I"m ok for now..
I'm thinking that since my system has been exposed to air and moisture I heard that most of it is collected in the evaporator/condensor core.. so for $60
CAD I"m going to replace that.. and also clean the heatercore area with some non-clorinated brake cleaner while I'm @ it before the next try.. that sound like a resonable plan or am I wasting time and money? Another thing is that I know there'* a door somewhere that control between the heater and the A/C.. just wondering if that maybe stuck and not opening all the way to A/C.. how would I look / troubleshoot that area?

But later on when I mentioned this place to other people here in town, they told me that those guys have a reputation for ripoffs or finding more things to fix than whatever the original complaint was. I'm not sure that'* true; it might be due to their just being thorough when checking out problems on a car: it'* not hard to find eight other things wrong on a typical older car besides whatever it got towed in for.
But I'd say that if you keep the shop on a tight leash, tell them exactly what you need to have done, and basically make it obvious that you understand what servicing needs be done, you should be okay.
