I've heard that it'* worth the extra money to go with brand new, and with the way you're talking about wanting your car to outlast you in life, I would go new.

Yes, avoid Duracrap all the way.

DuraLast is the single most ironic brand name in all of marketing. Nothing but trouble, sometimes right out of the box.

Thanks for the advice. I've been hearing that for a while. It'* odd though, before I did I put a new Duralast alternator in my truck back last July. It'* been running great every since, I guess I got lucky.

Definitely will be avoiding Duralast this time around though. I've been reading up and the Cardone pumps from Advance Auto Parts sound pretty good. Any opinions on these? I'm hoping I can just take my old pump up there with me, get them to take the old pulley off and get my core charge back all at once.

PS Pump went in today, no issues and now has zero lateral play...

But when I started the car this time, I heard the squeaks again...and it got worse and worse until eventually it became a continuous awful banshee like shriek.

Perplexed and dismayed, I removed my accessory belt. PS pump was great, tensioner was fine...but the alternator had a squeaking when turned. Guess that was my problem. Back to Advance Auto...

I am about to go insane...

A new alternator, power steering pump, and hours of frustration later, and it'* STILL shrieking.

What am I missing? Please help!

hmm. I really thought the PS pump would do it.

Does it make any difference if the AC clutch is engaged? Maybe the clutch is grabbing just a bit when it'* supposed to be released?

Not much else it could be. You're running out of accessories to swap. :?

No difference. I checked every accessory and you're right, I'm out of ones to replace. All have no lateral play and spin freely.

I'm uploading a video of what it sounds like. I'll try to get it up as soon as it'* done.

Here'* the video, as you can hear it'* very loud...almost painfully so.

You can also see how smoothly my accessories are running, I have no twitching in the tensioner anymore.
