Default Bad news=no go

FOr the last while my service engine soon light has been on. My car is running fine but becuase of light I cannot use my cruise. Every so often my acceleration dies completely out (it wont go faster at ALL!!!! ) then the light goes out. I drive for a while then when I begin to brake the light comes back on. Please help I have no idea what is the matter and I don't want to pay a mechanic $75 to check the computer if I can help it.

Well I'm afraid the best advice I can give you is this! Pull your codes!
If your car is a 92-93 then try this:
http://www.friedpoodle.com/ba/viewtopic.php?t=163
If your car is 94& up then you are gonna have to pay someone to pull the codes....or just go to AutoZone & they'll pull them for FREE ***As long as it'* not a 95 though*** 95'* have a OBD II style terminal connector for the OBD I ECM system!
