Default backfiring problem

How easy are backfiring problems to fix? im currently looking at this car and the owner says that there is an intermittent problem when increasing speed from 30-50 only. what is a backfiring problem, is it easy to fix, or do i need an entire new engine?

Can you give any more info. Is it backfiring through the exhaust or intake?

Heck, for 300 bones, I would buy her, but no way of getting out to Ilinois to pick her up. Good project car to convert my SE over to SSE!

Backfiring could be ICM or bad wiring related.
