Default article 35 in tech know-how

ok when i turn up the fans on my climate control, there is more noise like the fan is on high, but there just isn't any pressure. my auto-shop teacher said this was because bonnevilles have a chip or something that goes out and cost $800 to replace, but i am kind of wondering if article 35 in the tech infor tech know-how might be whats wrong too? does anybody know?

Sounds like article 35 might be your problem. Was your shop teacher the one that wanted to sell you the $3800 chip?

Because if your fans are coming on then there is most likely some sort of blockage.

I should probably clean it out even though mine runs pretty good. I bet it would run like new if I did that.

Now that'* a good one!

Is the $4800 chip inside the $140 control head?

I think you just need to clean out the evaporator (like in Techinfo).

Your shop teacher has his head so far up his ***, he can lick the insides of his ears. Clean the evap core, and come back with the results. If that doesn't do the trick WE'LL find the problem for you.

Opps.....
I meant to say $800, he was saying that most times this chip goes out and thats when people ususally trade them off, its supposed to control the fans openning up, he said he thinks mine is only 1/2 open or something. I want to clean out the evap, but theres a problem I'm not sure where to start at?
in step number 1 in article 35 tech know-how. it says to remove the eninge compartment relay cover where is that? is that the big black plastic thing up by the defrost vents but under the hood? if thats what it is which i think so, then I shouldnt have any problems, I'll keep ya all updated as soon as I get it cleaned out.

Methinks the shop teacher takes his Bonneville in to the dealer every time he needs the ashtrays emptied...

Well, I have to say your shop teacher is still screwed in the head. With 1100 members here, mostly 92-99'*, I can only recall ONE climate control failing, and that was for a DISPLAY problem. Play the odds. It'* probably no the climate control panel itself. If you can hear the fans, it'* either a clogged evap core or a vacuum problem.
