They are separate but each one feeds two cylinders.
It also could even be a bad ignition module. When mine went bad it affected only one coil. I thought it was a coil and bought one only to find it didn't help.

well i put on a new coil pack today and its still doing it should i try and change the spark plug again? It shouldn't be that because i just changed all of them about a month or so ago.
Pull the plug and inspect it. Compare it to a couple others and don't mix them up. Post pics of them here.
Inspect that wire carefully. Any place it rubs on metal should be fixed. Measure the resistance of the wire. Compare it to the resistance of the 2 and 6 wires (I recall this is #4, right?
A coil would TYPICALLY also take out spark from #1, as this is a waste-spark system. Both cylinders fire at the same time, twice per cycle.

i had my brothers dad come over and look at it today. He thinks that the uim got cracked on the insde becasue there is antifreeze sitting on top of the motor block, and then there is a white powder stuff all over one of the manifolds. He said that the reason it might be misfiring is that the is anti fireeze in the number four cylinder. Hes coming back on monday to run some compression test on it to see if thats what it is or not.
but thanks for all the help guys
