Default Another Alternator is shot.

Well it was working until this morning. I turned the steering wheel and the belt sounded loose and then I lost another alternator. It sapped 6 volts from the battery when I started the car again. Im so lost. Any ideas ?

when mine went out i went to a local performance shop n had mine rebuilt with heavy duty parts he claims it now tests to be better then alot of the $$ ones you see for stereos and i havent had a prob yet. thought i thought it might have been that but it was the new battery i bought it was fooked some how and would kill my car and wouldnt take hte charge. weird stuff but i took the battery back n got a new one for free after i fought for 3 hours on how a battery iis a battery and if i bought my battery for a chevy blazer itll still work in a bonneville but the stupid store was syaing htey got batterys for diff makes and my chevy battery wouldnt workin my pontiac cuz of hte different draws. im highly skeptical about that and i told htem i wont be back if they give out info like that..however i did get my free battery and they messed up n i got a 1500 cold cranking amp batter lol instead of hte 800 i had in there.

I have eaten many alts and batteries and a better alt will not only replace the electronic parts but also provide a rear bearing system that is capable of dealing with the heat so the electronics do not get fried.

When my alt went out on my 89--it chewed up the bearings in the back! Just made the motor seize up--while I was driving! The alt was so stuck it made the whole motor quit. Now don't misunderstand-the engine wasn't toast--but it stopped running because of the alt(Hope I made sense)
