Sounds good...it sounded as if the wiring harness connector was bad. Yeah... swap the motor and you should be good. However at this point you can test the high speed on the wiring harness connector end.

I suppose everrything is "repairable" if you have certain resources and talent but there is a limit on What should be repaired. The blower motor is exactly as you described it... an assembly. If any part of that assembly is broken, it should be replaced as a whole. No use digging into it any further for a $50 part.

Mother of all things holy!
Now I got the new blower in and the relay for A/C won't kick on. WTF? Fan speed control works fine, but no cold air and no "click." Could it be that I messed up the relay when I swapped the motor out?

You can first check the connections at the AC compressor relay. Refer to the post above for the position of the relay. You've already done a lot of testing it seems and may have just not plugged it in fully.
There'* no real electrical relation between the blower and the AC compressor. They are two differerent circuits.

I was more concerned about bumping something under the hood actually. The correct relay is in place, and was working when the old blower was functional. Is there anything to knock off that would cause the compressor or the relay not to work?

Yes..there'* something that can cause it not to work properly. I call it age and corrosion. Find the A/C relay, unplug and replug it 5 times. No need to jump around or chat anything while doing this. I usually add a little dielectric grease while I'm at it.
My 95 had issues with the A/C, low speed fans and high speed fan relays when I got it. All just needed a little dielectric and plug/unplugging.

Is there any way to test the relay? Is there any way to test the socket to the relay? Just getting that question out of the way before I find myself asking it later.

Even if you just got lucky and it may have happened even w/o you messing with the blower.
On both my cars I have noticed that two things seem to hold very true. Electrical connections (since we have so many) corrode over time and don't need much to mess up.....and vacuum lines rot and need to be replaced.
You can give it a try...none of us are saying you have to take the advice we give, but we are trying to help. You were right below the relays and maybe they didn't like the blower getting so much attention and now they are jealous. Maybe something else happened elsewhere..but it'* pretty conveinient that you were within foot of them and now something isn't working.
