Default Ah, The automatic transaxle.

Hey guys, Im home for easter weekend here, and I went for a little joy ride today, and well... I want to get a problem out of the way.

In nuetral or Park when I rev it to 2000 and then take my foot off the gas it will have a thump sound at 1500RPM... and then it will click ocationally.
It sounds like a tensoner or chain maybe?
Can someone shed some light on this situation?
Do I check my transaxel fluid when its running or what?
The hanes manual stays as far away from this as posable....

Related problem?
It could just be snow and Ice build up (I did go for a little offroad excursion before this started)
But now Under acceleration it clicks and crackles at aprox 1700rpm, everywhere else is fine
(EXEPT when Im turning and accelerating then it just goes insane with crackles and clicks) <Untill the ice is clear from under it im not going to worry to much, I might rip of the wheels and see if there is a lot of ice in there.

Did you check the tranny pan for dents? Maybe the filter cracked at the neck inside the pan. I'm just thinkin because of your 'offroad excursion'.
You'll probably have to drop the pan which is easy but messy. Then you can see if your magnet has more metal on it than it sould or if your filter is ok.

Not sure about the clicks in neutral, but the clicks and snapping noise on acceleration while turning is a classic symptom of a bad drive axle. May not be in this case but....?

I agree with bill....the clickin does really sound like a bad CV shaft......I have a bad one right now. If I were you I'd go to a DIY car wash and melt the ice out of there with a pressure washer and inspect the CV Shafts and boots for damage

It was just ice, but I still have the clicking in nuetral... I was told there is a chain in there... so I m going to get it tightened somehow...
