Default Adding a sun/moon roof

How much to add a sunroof on my car? Will they have to put all those drains and stuff that come with regular bonnes with the roof or will they just cut the hole and put the glass and motor. My sister in law had an estimate done to add one to her car and she said it was 1k is that about right or will mine be cheaper. Her car was an 02 Stratus BTW.

Are you serious? You could find another 10 year old Bonneville, with a sun roof, for 1500 bucks easy if its got lots of miles on it. Why bother adding one to an existing car

A manual sunroof should run you 300-400$.
Power sunroof will run you around 700-900$ depending on where you go.

Both roofs go over top of the car, instead of inside the car, whenever the glass is opened. Most cars have it that way anyways, so it aint a bad thing.

Why bother adding any mod to any car?

Its the process of modfying a car that is fun. To have something unique on the road, that no one else has.

Ya I dont like hearing "why not buy a car that already has one for the same price" but I understand where youre coming from. I like MY bonne the way it is and I would rather add things piece by piece. A manual sun roof sounds like a nice idea which I think I will go for. Do body shops do this kind of work or will I have to take it to a place that does glass work?

I heard of someone taking the roof section off a sunroofed car and putting it on a non-sunroofed car (was a regal roof onto a century. was on regalgs.org) Sounded like it was involved, but then it would be pretty much factory. Probably too much money as well. If you have the overhead console in your bonneville, I think there is a pop-up sunroof that is split so you could have one on each side of it. Not sure who makes it. Talk to JohnDeerBoy like they said and see what he did

don't some say that an aftermarket roof make the vehicle lose value or become unsafe(or something like that)?

Pretty much anything you do to your car will make it lose value, thats what sucks about modding.

Just look in the phone book for interior places, and see what they specialize in. The good companies will give you a lifetime warranty on the glass, while the shops will usually give a lifetime or 3 year warranty. I looked into getting one before a few months ago.
