Default ABS Brakes

My ABS brake light is on. We have checked the brakes and bled the lines and it still comes on. It says that the pedal shoul pulsate when you have your foot on the brake and that isn' happening. Does anyone know what might be causing the light to stay on?

It should only pulse when the ABS has taken control. For example when the tires are in a slide, it pulses the brakes. It most likely is a wheel speed sensor. Check the cables going to each wheel and make sure they are all connected and not worn. If the light is on then they it most likely not functioning at all. My suburban just went through that about 4 months ago and found it to be a bad wheel sensor.

If it isn't functioning at all what would be the next step?

I am not sure if there are any codes for the ABS system on the 92 model or not. There are others on here with a little more knowledge that will have more input. I ended up taking mine to the dealership to find out what the problem was and then changed the sensor myself.

There are sensors for each wheel. Right? If there is one off would it stop the whole system from working properly?

Yes, it needs to see the input from all the sensors. Why, is there one off that you know of?

When we got the car the driver side sensor was unplugged. But all the brake lines and brakes are new.

Is it plugged in now? With it plugged in, does the light go out? You will want to make sure the connectors are clean before you plug it in. If it was unplugged for awhile it probably won't make a good connection until it is cleaned.

Its plugged in now and the light still comes on. But I am not sure how long it was unplugged so i will go ahead and clean the connector and see what happens after i do that.
