Remote starter installation and the hunt for wires
Hello,
I am in the process of installing a remote starter with keyless entry and a basic alarm. I the remote start function working, but there are some small wires I am having trouble locating for the keyless/alarm.
Specifically, I'm looking for:
Parking Lights: brown wire in lower driver'* kick panel
Trunk release: Orange, is this anywhere except by the release lever?
Tachometer: Purple/White somewhere
And it claims there is a light green factory alarm disarm connection, but it starts without it so I doubt it'* applicable.
Please be as specific as possible.. if there are pictures even better! Thanks!

for the alarm disarm did you lock the doors and wait about 30 seconds before trying to start it?
someone with a factory service manual can tell you

I'm sure I'm probably looking right at them, but I'm just having trouble locating them.. just to verify,
The driver'* kickpanel is the area beneath the dash to the left, correct?
Is the door harness the harness directly inside of where the wires come in from the door?
Also, if I don't have a factory alarm, will I still need the disarm wire? It seems to be remote starting fine without it.

There is a whole built in passive system, thats the problem we had with my buddy'* GTO beacuse there was nowhere to hook up a factory disarm so the car would go to on mode then never crank

I would lock it, wait a minute or 2 then try it
if we remote started right after locking it would work but once the security system fully armed 30 seconds later it wouldn't work

Still seems to work fine. I had to put everything back together so I could drive it, so I settled with remote start and keyless entry for now. With that being said, for $90 I'm more than satisfied.

A Bypass module that "talks" on the data stream would fix your problems on that gto... his bville is to old for anything like that. If it doesn't honk or you can't find a disarm wire you don't have an alarm
