Automatic Ride control? CCP/CCR? Perf. + Touring Ride on
I have no ideas what you guys call it, on the Supercoupe, we call it Automatic ride control, pretty much the same thing.
But, I'm splitting it off from this topic.

Basically, what happens when both Perf. and Touring ride are on? Some sort of malfunction, but what exactly could be wrong and is it imperitive to get it solved? The Bonneville is a '98 SSEi, it'* my girlfriends. Really, if it'* something that doesn't need to be solved and can be driven fine on, it'* not a big deal. She doesn't use the car for anymore than going from A to B.
If the problem needs to be solved, can the struts just be replaced? Since I was reading you can't get the electronic ones anymore, what'* a decent 50/50 strut that'* reasonably priced? By 50/50, I of course mean something that'll be a decent handler, but offer a good ride.

Ok.. it is called CCR aka Computer Command (or controlled) Ride.
The thing is when there is a problem with the system both lights come on at the same time. This indicates a failure or problem in the system. To determine what is wrong, you usually need to have a dealer with the special scanner (Tech2, I think) check the codes and tell you what the problem entails.
Also the CCR struts were not readily available and I am currently aiming to test if Monroe makes a CCR replacement strut. Advance Auto has a listing, however in the past..listings were found and the struts were not.
The basic premise behind how the struts work was explained to me by a friend that is a certified technician and worked at Pontiac during the CCR years. Apparently the grease or fluid in the struts is a default thickness and the struts perform in one mode on their own. When you press the button for the other mode, electricity is passed through the grease or liquid and that makes it the opposite of it'* non electrified state. This changes the ride quality.

I don't believe having both lights on affects the ride or car in any way other than you don't get to select your ride type. If what bill was told it true, it would seem that when there is a malfunction, the struts should default to the one state and you should be fine.
i would look at replacing them if the rear of the car is sagging too much, it lists to one side or the other on flat ground at rest, or if it is leaking a lot of fluid from the strut itself.
You can replace the struts with non-CCR struts and close off the system. You can use the ELC, Electronic Level Control, Struts to replace them with. This removes the selectable ride option, but keeps the load leveling capabilities of the ELC. These are cheaper than replacing the CCR struts, which if found can cost around $500 each.
Hope this helps. From the sounds of it you should be fine assuming what is assumed here is correct.

I am giving Advance Auto a try on the Monroe CCR struts they list. They are ordered and on the way from New York. I should be able to see very soon if they are actually CCR and available.
Prices are very good in comparison with what we have seen in the past.

Anyway, many here recommend Monroe Sensatracs as a better-than-OEM, but reasonably priced upgrade for that 50/50 feel you're looking for. Some use KYBs, but I'm not familiar with them.

Well, if it'* nothing too important, it probably wont be worried about. Both of us are college students and aren't exactly swimming in money. Her car rides fine, it'* very smooth and it doesn't sag at all in the back from what I can tell. I have some pictures of her car and mine, but I don't really have any particularly good ones that show if her rear might be sagging (lets hope not, she'* so young! )

Well...good news then.
The struts I'm getting are NOT CCR struts. Simply listed as the replacement to CCR with a cute little "see appendix A" next to it.
Appendix A laughs at me for thinking it was possible.
