Default 97 Long Start when hot

I have 85K on my 97 3.8. I haven't had the car long and it seems to run great, but sometimes when I've been driving it for a while it takes a long turn of the key to restart after it'* been shut off. Example, I drive for 20 miles on a warm day, stop for fuel, then when I go to restart, it takes a couple turns of the key for it to catch. The mechanic who replaced the engine said he'd noticed it a couple times but couldn't pinpoint any problems. I know he checked the fuel pump which was okay (?)

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks
