I couldn't find my earlier post (a few weeks ago) so I'll do another. Sorry. I forget the code # but it said to check the IAC. I didn't replace it a few weeks ago because the two screws were mangled & I didn't know if I could fine replacements. The car was running OK so I waited. A week ago I replaced the IAC. The car didn't want to start at first but then it started and ran fine. I followed the directions to drive it at 40mph to let the computer reset. I also measured the pintel & adjusted to the same length as the old one. The car ran fine except for a miss when accelerating hard (old problem). I drove it to work for two days (86mi rt). It ran OK. Yesterday I took it to advance to check the codes. It showed a #6 misfire (old problem) & that was it. I figured it had cleared itself. I tried to start it & it wouldn't start. I finally got it started but it wouldn't idle. I can keep it running but have to keep foot on gas to keep it running. It'* almost like the computer didn't recognize the new IAC until the codes were reset BUT it hasn't thrown a new code! Can I reset everything by disconnecting the battery? Any ideas?

You can disconnect the battery for about 20 mins and that will reset the PCM. You may want to check and clean the throttle body. A dirty throttle body can also cause idle problems.
Just to be sure
was this a new IAC or was it used? (adjusting used IAC can damage it)
Can you be sure adjustment you made was within these specs
The IAC valve may be damaged if installed with the cone (pintle) extended more than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Measure the distance that the valve is extended before installing a new valve. The distance from the idle air control valve motor housing to the end of the idle air control valve pintle should be less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in). Manually compress the pintle until the extension is less than 28 mm (1-1/8 in).
