Yeah Mike, sorry I haven't been on in a while. I'm on my parents' SLOOOW dialup for the summer, so I forget the Internet even exists.

Anyway, my surging is completely gone after a tranny cooler install and TPS tweak. I don't know if it will come back again or steadily degrade like yours did, but for now I seem to have it licked. I'll continue to post updates if I find out more, but for now I'm convinced that my TC was susceptible to heat buildup and I fixed it with auxilliary cooling. Time will tell!

My 92 SSE is still surging, has been for about 2 years now.

There is a recall out for these trannies, to reroute or replace the metal cooling fins on the hoses, or something like that, I just remembered it. I remember GM having a recall. Something to do with corroding hoses or cooling fins? Does anyone know about that?

I wonder if that could contribute to overheating and thus causing the 'chugging' ?

Well Mike, you called this one. A couple days ago I was on the interstate and it was around 90 outside. I experienced a few light surges while in overdrive under load.... nothing very noticeable, but I could see the RPM needle fluctuating slightly. I'm at a loss, and all I can think is that I'll need a new tranny sometime soon.... I guess I'll just take it a day at a time. We need a big brain in here to tell us exactly what'* happening with our trannies.

someone once said it could be a combination of weak ignition spark when hot, with a bad torque convertor. i dont know.....

hmmm seems that my TC is going out. We might rebuild the trans at the same time that we get the TC replaced. Ill report back when the work is done. It could be that rebuilding the transmission is the only way to get rid of this problem.

[Steve Irwin voice]Crichey, that'* bad bad news boys and girls!

Sorry to hear that, Mike. But I guess it'* a good thing in the long run. Are you going to rebuild it with some beefed-up parts, or just return it to stock form?

As far as the surging being a combination of a wonky TC and weak spark, it could be true. Kyle (Allmachtige; see pronunciation guide below) scanned my car in Minnesota, and we found I've got a misfire in cylinder 1 under high load and WOT conditions. I threw another misfire code yesterday, so I'm making the switch to the NAPA Belden 8mm wires and cleaning a bunch of my electrical connections. Who knows, maybe my RPM fluctuations were due to a slight misfire? I'll find out soon enough.

Mike, keep us updated on your tranny.

When we get it rebuilt it will be with aftermarket parts, so the tranny should last longer than the rest of the car when it is finished. I probably need to check my wires and plugs too, I have not done anything with them.

it'* been a while, but I'm back the pcm swap seemed to work, but its just not the case, (though it did get rid of my qdm fault) while I have managed to get rid of the chuggle, I now have the surging that everyone was talking about and it became more apparent with the warmer weather....the surging (feels like the a/c pump kicking on and off) is caused by the tcc trying to engage, I can see it on my scantool , I'm guessing that either the tcc clutch its self is worn or the switch inside the trans is bad either way it freakin sux I have noticed that sometimes it will just lock itself out of 4th just as before, so now I'm thinking I want to just get rid of this damn car. I'm going to NY next month does anyone think its wise to take the bonni? I mean do ya think it will make it there and back? or would I be better off shelling out $$ to rent a car?
in any case it looks like I'm back where I started from .....I'm so freakin mad I could throw something.........anyone want this car?
