Default 95 SSEi Trans problems

Morty drove about 2 hours, gets off the highway starts up a slight hill and is now free reving as if the trans is totally gone.

Fluid is ok looking, level is ok. He doesn't have his scanner with him, so temp is unknown.

Any ideas?

Either TC slipping like mad or a busted differential.

One of the two.

Reverse Reation Shell failure, also known as the "Coffee Can". When rebuilding the trans, install the aftermarket hardened unit.

I had the exact situation in my 95 ssei, i was cruising along and all of a sudden, there was nothing, just when the gas was down the rpm when right up but no movement, called and tow truck and had her towed to the gm dealer, it was making a loud crackling noise when the motor was running, got a call from the dealer and there was no reverse gear and something else broke and the tranny was no good, i got a brand new one from gm for 1700 plus install, good as new *knocking on wood*, hopefully its nothing major like that but that was the same situation that hit me good luck

Welp... Car had no gears. Towed it to a local trans builder and waited 4 hours for my in laws to get me. I was HALF A @#%#@$#@ MILE FROM THE DAMN YARD!

Anywho... We'll see what tomorrow brings but I guess this officially starts my rebuild... a month and a half too early :?

When my TC went, it would drive fine until the fluid warmed up, then it would act like yours.

Soo.... why didn't you just get out of the car and lock it then walk the rest of the way to the yard and pull a used tranny and do a tranny swap then go back to the yard to do the search?
