Does the outer hub of the balancer move freely from the center? Can you make the belt move along its path any by grabbing and pulling? If so, the clatter is, at least partially, caused by the balancer. When the rubber in it fails, it has metal teeth inside it that hold it together.

I got a GM replacement for mine a while back. A little less than $100 I think from gmpartsdirect.com.

i was wondering if anyone knewif the non sc 4t60E are the same as the hd4T60E ??i was looking for a master rebuild kit,apparently the 4t60E is the same 91-94???is this correct for the 94 sc??
