Default 94 transmission ?

how do I identify what transmission I have in my 94 Bonneville? I have a 4t65e out of a 97 Bonneville and I would like to put it in my 94. Is it the same? will it work.
thanks for any input. carman

Nope, you should have a 4t60 in the car, the 4t65e will not work.

The 97 Bonneville with naturally aspriated motor would have come with the 4T60 transmission and you could use that. The only 97'* that would have the 4T65 would be the supercharged cars.

Good point, guess he will have to look. If there is a vacuum modulator, I believe on the left front side, that'* a 4t60

OK so I am looking for a vacuum modulator .
I said it was a 4t65e because that is what the paper work from the rebuild shop said it was. it was rebuilt in 07.
so if it is a 4t60e is will fit in my 94 ?
thanks for the info

I have a 94 Bonneville SE .
the trans I want to use is coming out of a SE also...97. It is not a supercharged engine. I looked and didn't see a vacuum modulator so I am guessing it is a 4t60 not a 4t65 like the invoice says. can I jack the car and read the tag on the trans to see?
here is my problem with my 94 trans.

last winter when it was cold....If it sat a long time ...over night or even at work for 8 hours.. It would not go into gear right away, I would have to wait a minute or so then put it in gear. then it would work fine. the tranny shop said I have a bad torque converter and it is draining so It Is has to pump back up. It didn't do it this summer but the other day it was cold and it did it again. I am guessing that the seal shrinks as it gets cold.
any how I ended up with the 97 and it has a rebuilt tranny so I would like to swap them.
my cheapo Haynes repair manual says there is a identification tag on the trans. If so is that going to tell me what I have?
thanks guys

if there truly is no vacuum modulator(or at least the hole where it would be), then thats a 4T65E.
