I had a similar problem with a Buick. I took the back seat out and removed the door panel on the affected door. After you remove the door panel you can reach inside the door and unlock it. Once you have the door open you should be able to tell what is causing the problem. good luck!

I don't have any pictures or diagrams but, it should be pretty straight forward. There should only be a few wires in the rear doors. Follow the wires from where they enter the door. One will go to the electric window motor the other to the electric lock mechanism. There may be others that go to courtesy lights depending on how your door is made. Unplug the locking mechanism and take it out if you can gain access to it. Then test it on a bench with 12 volts. It is basically an electromagnet. It will make a solid clunking noise if it is operating properly. I bet that is whats wrong. You can switch out the one from the other side of the car (door on the other side of the car)to confirm the problem or if your satisfied through bench testing just get another at the local junk yard. I have a part from a 96 Bonneville that I could sell you if it will fit. See if you can get a part number or better yet send me a picture of the broken part. Good luck!

You said you cannot unlock it with the electric switch. Will it lock by using the switch? If it locks but won't unlock it is possible that the electromagnet is good but the little rubber cushion on the end of the linkage is bad. I have had to replace that on my 96 Bonneville. As I recall it was a bear to get to but, it was an easy fix once I gained access to it.
