Not the icm... still crank, no start :( What should we try next?

We're heading that way with a scantool and a couple manuals (I have 93 and 95 FSM's, and the 92-99 Chiltons).

I suspect a bad crank sensor.

Can you check for power getting to the ICM? The pink/black (pink for some years) wire on the connector going to the ICM should have 12 volts while the key is in the run position.

Did you check all the fuses? Don't overlook the fuse panel under the dash on passenger side.

Ted was right... it was a blown fuse that got overlooked. Duh, we feel really stoopid but it was definitely a learning lesson :) Thanks so much to will for helping us out! We were completely lost without him!

Just as a sidenote, the icm we bought did not work at all with our car but when we put the old one back in it worked fine :)

Glad to hear you got it going. Now I'm wondering what made the fuse blow. I think the fuel pump & ICM share the same fuse and I think we had a couple cases where the oil pressure sending unit caused that fuse to blow. Is your oil pressure gauge working OK? I'll check a wiring diagram later & see what I find.

Ya our oil pressure guage is fine and I believe that Will determined that our fuel pump and icm are actually on seperate fuses. There was no power to the icm but we could still hear the fuel pump when trying to start the car. Funny enough our cd player stopped working a couple of months ago and it now miraculously works as well.

I had the 93 and 95 FSM's with me, and the 93 called for the FP and ICM on the same relay. The 94 was NOT. I'd have to go back and check that circuit though. I also suspect SOMETHING wrong somewhere in there to tag that fuse.

Funny, when I found the fuse, I asked if he had 50 cents (for a new fuse). He started digging in his pocket. :D

I'll do some more digging in the FSM's and try to point out some things to watch for. It won't be the coils. They're isolated by internal coils in the ICM.

Keep in mind that was a new Duralast ICM from Autozone. Re-affirms my feeling that they are sub-par parts at best.

The trip cost me a pair of new shoes and a video game for Katie. :lol:

The on-line diagrams I have access to show the ICM & fuel pump both getting power from fuse #6. It's very strange that the CD player started working. What # fuse did you guys change?

It was fuse 6, but I deliberately listened for the fuel pump to prime with key on, and heard it. I was at the RR tire when Henry turned the ignition on. The fuse WAS blown at that point. :?

Very strange - hopefully the problem won't repeat but I'd keep a spare fuse in the car.
