First of all...tell him to join up to fix his own darn car. You are his Mom..not his mechanic.
Secondly..the car will start w/o a problem, the VATS is disabled. Randy and Nick did it on Saturday in the garage between lights and bumper.
Security system...hmmm Something isn't receiving the correct input to turn off. And it sounds like it'* more than one door.
Pat... RFA (Remote Function Actuator) doubtful.... check Body Control Module. If it'* not receiving the input or is and is fried..then it coudl behave this way... those are just suggestions of where to start though.

I remember reviewing some info for another member with a 96-99 with a similar problem, and reading about a lock cylinder switch as one of the possiblites along with the RFA. Tracy, any other issues as far as door locks not working?
And as far as keys go, pre-2000 has two keys, one ignition, the other doors and trunk.

OK from 93 FSM 9D-21
Arming the system:
Close all windows and place shift lever in park
Turn the ignition to lock position and remove the key
open any door
Lock doors with electric switch (or use LOCK button on remote keyless transmitter)
Close doors
After approx. 30 seconds the indicator on the dash turns off, the system is now armed to sound the alarm if any tamper switch is activated or tripped
The alarm can be disarmed ONLY when a door is opened with a key
this might help ditch boy:
Locking with out Arming:
To lock the vehicle without arming the system, simply close the doors and lock them manually with the inside lock ***** or use the key. If remaining in the vheicle, it is possible to lock the doors with the electric switch, provided the doors are closed prior to locking.
Looking through the componets there is a thefr deterrent fuse it is located in the I/P fuse block, fuse 6, LH underhood fuse block fuse 3, and relay center fuse 3, and 4
false alarm test:
IF false alarm shuts off 2 to 4 minuets, check for
-stuck or intermittent Door Latch, or Door Lock assembly switch
-stuck or intermittent tamper switch
-ground or intermittent ground in wiring associated with thoes switches
IF false alarm is continous ir intermittent for more than 2 to 4 minuets, check for
-ground or intermittent ground to Remote Accessory control (RAC) Module connector C3
terminal H for horns, or RAC module connector C3 terminal G for exterior lamps
-Defective RAC module. If alarm stops when RAC module is disconnected Replace RAC module

Pat...no matter what the rest of the guys say about you...you're tops in my book!
Thank you soooo much for looking that up. I've informed DitchBoy that he needs to look into a few things preferably sooner than later.
Boosty....guess what...Mom is the mechanic...I told him to manually lock the doors to avoid the situation for now. Pat just verified it. I also relayed your message for him to log on and fix his own car. His reply, that he didn't even time to "take a long shower" ... No wonder the boy'* been so miserable.
My guess is that he will manually lock it until NEBF....if he actually shows up, that is...

Mama, tell Ditchboy that if he doesn't show up and someone else drives his car here, I'm taking his front bumper if he doesn't show up
