I got a line on a 93 SSE that is clean the only problem is that the trans is blown I know it is a series 1 but how hard would it be to swap a series 2 l67 into it.for 500 + 1500 for the swap I think that my girl could have a descent runner as well as a good vechile. I will try to get pics on sunday. Anyone that has done it please pm me or post as much info as you can

You'd need to rewire, reburn a pcm that isn't very common to have done. It would be very tough.

Fro $2K you could easily have your trans rebuilt.

How much time, experience, and resources do you have?

It can certainly be done, but to accomplish a reliable build for a DD, you will need a lot of time and plenty of personal expertise or lots of help from others. This comment is just from what I have seen others go through while attempting this swap.

Also consider that your $2000 estimate may not take in all the extras you'll need to complete the job.

I'm not one to discourage anyone from doing a project, but just feel that you may be better served by finding and SSE or SSEi that'* ready to drive and improve it from there.

You don't need a custom PCM.

You need the entire engine, trans, PCM, and wiring harness from the donor car. The transmissions are not simply compatible. They are different gear ratios.

well the thing is that I have very limited access to a good garage but I am having trouble locating another transmission close and I and not very familiar with the series one motors and transmissions. I am told that the motor seems to act like it is going engage but the car won't go anywhere.could it be as simple as a torque converter if so that would be great but it has 165K on it and the motor purrs like a kitten. This car was owned lby a little older lady and so you know it has been babied.

where are you located, that will help us know if there are any yards close to you that might have a trans

see this is the thing I live sorta in the boonies I live in Cheyenne WY and I know that Denver is only about 2 hours away and I would be more than willing to go down there if there is something around there

I'm inclined to agree with Boosty - there'* got to be a reputable transmission shop somewhere in Cheyenne (if not, try Ft. Collins or certainly Denver). Many shops will cover the towing to the shop, and you won't have to dink around with it. It should be getting cold in Cheyenne pretty soon and wrenching with frozen fingers sux. If you take it to a tranny shop you can stay warm at home watching the Jazz beat up on the Nuggets, and the shop will call you when it'* done. Additionally, most tranny shops have a warranty. Call around and get some estimates. Worth a try, anyway.
