squela how did you fix your problem?
rebuilt it

anywho just like mr Wren advised do the filter and take it from there. filter is a relativly easy job. drop pan, pull off filter, drain, put new filter on,put pan on and fill her back up

Crack a few bolts on the corner of the pan and let it drain. Have a BIG drip pan under there when you pull the pan completely off. Go to Kmart or Wal-mart and buy a rubbermaid storage tote larger than the width and length of your pan, but only 3 or 4 inches deep.

The bushing for the filter can be tricky to remove. Be VERY careful with it so you don't mar the aluminum seat.

change your trans filter and put mobil one trans fluid in your car and it will fix your problem, I had the exact same problem on my 1992 SE for an entire winter until I did that and now it is fixed and has been fine for 2 years

I would strongly caution anyone here to NOT use synthetic trans fluid in a 4T60. It'* lubricity is far too high on a higher mileage trans. Worn clutches may not work at all.
