I have a 1993 SE I got into an accident with that has a good engine/trans. I found a 1994 SE with a good body but bad trans locally. I'm planning on swapping both the engine/trans from the 93 to the 94. In my other post, willwren pointed out that some things will not work from the 94 on the 93 engine and trans. Thread here So I'm looking for more details on what might have to be changed, and what wont match up with the 94.

The transmissions are incompatible with each other. 94/95 uses a thermistor that reports temp back as an actual number to the PCM. 92/93 uses a thermal switch that switches at a critical temp, sending a fault signal to the PCM. The 93 trans cannot be controlled by a 94 PCM, and a 94 trans cannot be controlled by a 93 PCM. The connectors on the 93 and 94 PCM'* are different.

So you need to put the valvebody from the OLD trans into the NEW replacement trans to make it work.

I don't think you want to go through all that. A used trans from a wrecker would be a better bet (and no, 92 isn't compatible with a 93/94/95 PCM either).

Then we get to the EGR valve which is also different between 93/94. Enough issues you to say you don't really want to go there.
