Default 93-92 Swap

Was wondering if the engine and transmission from a 1993 SE would directly bolt up to a 93 SE?

Yes and no. You'll need the crank sensor, harmonic balancer, and EGR off the 93 to install them on the 92. This means the UIM isn't compatible and will have to be swapped also.

The cylinder heads and valvetrain are different, but shouldn't pose a problem. You'll need the 92'* eprom from the PCM to control the transmission, in which case you WON'T import your EGR system.

Confused?

Why are you asking?

Wow yes very confused because I found a 92 with a great body but blown trans where as mine as a good trans and low mileage engine but horrible body.

You could swap your motor, trans and ECM and you should be fine. Basically, you would be turning the 92 into a 93 and you don't have to worry about the issues that WillWren mentioned because you are using the complete 93 drive train.

Yeah cuz I was just going to swap the entire drivetrain over, my concer was it bolting up without any major issues like mentioned above. I assume he was talking about if I just swapped one or the other I would run into those problems?

actually, if you get the e-prom from the 92, you will be fine. no egr, hb, nor css will be needed.

eprom or memcal are the brains inside your PCM (engine computer), they are removable from the PCM shown here

Could he just unbolt the sub frame and swap everything out? Will the wiring harnesses be the same?
