92 Bonneville SE engine shuts down
#11
Bought one...A nice electric job with 240 ft lb of torque. I figured that would work since the spec for the bolt is 110 ft lb.....no go. I pulled that trigger until I smelled smoke and you could almost fry an egg on the socket. Fortunately I own stout combination wrenches. 12" long 15/16" on the bolt with the box end on a 14" wrench hooked into the open end voila, loose bolt. The gun works great on the wheel lugs though. Fifty bucks, I'm keeping it.

I had this problem with my first bonneville, same year, and my parents had one too. They both had the circut board under the coil packs go bad. If you pull it off it will have bubbling in the board. We had to look for 2 months to find this problem the first time and replaced a lot of parts but a mechanic we talked to finally led us to this. I hope this helps. good luck

Thanks Super, but fortunately the car has been tip top since replacing the Crank sensor. Taking a 150 mile jaunt now and hoping it holds up...Been driving it kind of hard since the repair and still no issues so I am hopeful that it is taken care of.
