There'* also a parking brake release difference. My 93 has the pull handle release mounted on the dash where a 97 does not as the parking brake pedal is push-to-release. I'm not sure when these changes ocurred.

93'* had the parking brake release... 94'* went to the press to set, press to release parking brake... even my 95 has the press to set and press to release... 
I think the press to release was a better desing with less failure...
On my 91 when I bought it almost 6 years ago, the parking brake had failed... I made the dealership replace it before I took the car off the lot...LOL
On the 91 SSE, the parking brake is also shot... I'll have a to get my hands on a good one or new one if I can find it...

I think the press to release was a better desing with less failure...
