Not all tail lights are created equal. I found this out today. I bought a set of used SSEi tail lights for my 95 SE. The tails came out of a 1992 SSEi. It was one of those 15 minute jobs that took 2 hours! Apperently the studs on the 92 tails are smaller than the studs on my 95. I dont know if this is an SSE thing or a year thing.... I'm guessing it'* a year thing. So after a quick run to the hardware store, I got them installed (5mm nuts, btw). So, I reconnect the connectors on the trunk lid... no problems. I go to reconnect the outer tails and, guess what, the connector is different! The connector on the back of the 92 lights uses a grey 6 pin connector, although it only uses 4 of the 6 pins. The 95 uses a 4 pin connector and the pin layout is different. I stole the wireing harness out of the original tails and put them in the SSE lenses. Just a note, the trunk lid lights didn't have a harness when I got them, so I assume they would be different.

I LOVE GM!

Yeah they're in. I'd post a pic but I don't have a web site or any way to upload.

The Lmap monitor difference makes sense... I didn't think of that. I used the stock harness and it worked fine. It may be worth listing something like this in a tech FAQ. I'm sure putting SSE tail lights in an SE is a common mod.
