not the earlier model bonnies. (UNLESS IT HAD TO SHOW HD UNDER THE TRANSMISSION PAN)

1) In the NA bonnies the 4T60-E was used through 1997...
2) 1997 was the first year for the SC'd Bonnie to use the 4T65-E 3) 1998 was the first year for the NA Bonnie to have the Light Duty 4T65-E 4) I have yet to see any 4T60-E that had HD stamped on the pan, although all of the SC'd bonnies used the HD version... 5) Its said that the 4T65-E was a 90-95% redesign of the 4T60-E __________________ Best Car Insurance | Auto Protection Today | FREE Trade-In Quote |
I have a 95 Bonneville SE w/ 3800 Series II. I want to do a direct swap with another series II and 4t60e trans. I know now that the electrical is quite different. Would I be able to get any 4t60e transmission (like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...984266331&rd=1) And do a direct swap without changing any of my current wires/setup?

That trans will not work correctly.
The easiest thing that you could do is to take and try to find a complete engine, trans, PCM and wire harness out of the same vehicle and modify as needed. |

I have question why would you want swap a series I for Series II. I mean I like my series one but I will admit that series 2 has more power and better fuel mileage. It pretty much almost as reliabe as my series 1. That would be alot of work to do that. I a, thinking junk yard and hope for the best

I think the purpose of the swap is to have the more powerfull motor in the lighter car.

Who said anything about putting a series one in it? I need a 4t60e tranny becuase thats the one my car has. Why would that trans not work with mine, if both are 4t60 electronically controlled?

That tranny is from a 3.1l engine and i'm next to positive that it has a 3.33 FDR instead of your 3.06, along with a different stall torque converter. Also it has an OBDII system controlling it instead of your hybrid OBDI/II system. That will defintiely give you trouble. The actual transmission case might actually be different too, since it's from a w-body. |
