I know a guy who has used nothing but wal-mart oil in his ford Tempo, changed it every 2500-3000 miles, that car has well over 200,000 miles on it and still runs great... He still uses Wal-Mart oil... I'm not sure what company wal-mart uses for their oil... But I'lll just about bet it comes from one of the leaders in oil... I still perfer Mobil or Havoline... But eventhough its generic oil it still meets the SL requirements just like any other oil...

I am by no means a Ford fan either... Some of the most odd crapp I have ever seen in my life has been on a ford product... I have seen 2 351'*, and a couple of 302'* get passed 200,000 miles, but by then the rod bearings were on the bottom of the pan...
Now on the 4.0 and 3.0 60 degree ford engines, the 4.0 pushrod engine in the explorer, and the 3.0 Vulcan in the taraus, I have seen a few of the 4.0'* throw rods... I was supprised to see how small the rods were, and how much damage was inflicted on the engine... BTW 5 of the 6 rods were black as tar.... those 5 rods had some serious bearing issues, and it had 150,000 miles on it... The 3.0 Vulcans are actually ok... I have been shocked by these little engines...
But on the exact same note, every 3.8 or 3800 I have ever seen doesn't beat the hell out of the oil.... This is some of the reason why I drive GM cars... I have never seen my oil black as tar... But I have seen fords with oil that looked like it had 100,000 miles on it...lol
THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!
I have an 89 olds with 381,000 I am trying for 500,000. I bought it back in 1993. it had 61,000 on it and I have never had a problem with it. As for the tranny It has been a good one too. I have changed the fluid in it a few times. It has never gave me a problem. So just take care of it and it will take care of you
