1st gear and OD not working.
First off.
1996 Bonneville SSEi.
151,xxx
swapped tranny 8,xxx miles ago.
My car will not start out in 1st gear, and the OD isnt engaging anymore.
I suspect driving around in the deep snow last night.
The car was driving normally last night and it didnt have an engine light on.
The transmission shifts 2-3 3-4 fine.
I never have harsh shifts and the tranny has never acted up before this. Please help?

Can you get it scanned for any stored codes?

I'm just wondering if its in "limp-home-mode". But when its in that mode, it will start out in 3rd gear, not 2nd. Are you sure its starting in 2nd?

I think you were right about the limp mode.
I couldn't tell if it was 2nd or 3rd. I pulled it inside for a while and checked fluids. I just now pulled it out and it is operating like before.
What would cause this condition? I was driving through deep snow and some ice last night before I parked it.

Not sure, some things can cause the PCM to go into limp mode, but it'* hard to say.
