Well I came home tonight and saw from the windows in to the garage that my bro'* lights where on. I open the garage and here it is running. Well I looked in side thinking my brother went a wall and was trying to kill himself but thank god that wasn't the case. I looked in the car no keys were it and the ignition was in the off position. Nothing on the dash seemed abnormal. But I put the keys in and turned it to the on position and then took it for a drive brought it back and it turned off. The gas was low so we got some gas and parked it outside so if it did start up again at least we wouldn't have to worry about the exhaust getting in the house. Glad I caught it when I did though. My brother did have the starter replaced a few months ago and I have noticed that after they put it in, it really doesn't start as smooth as I think it should. Any suggestions on what it could be? As much help as can be provided is great. Thanks all and glad to say that as of right now me and my family are still here not sucking in exhaust so lets hope it stays that way.

Remote starter is the only thing I can think of. If he bought it used then maybe it has one you don't know about.

Are you sure that it never had one? I am not %100 sure here, but I think it would be about impossible for the car to start on its own without one.

There are so many things that would have to coincidently happen at the same time for it to roll over, start, and stay running for any amount of time it isn't even funny. Not to mention VATS would have to be bypassed, I don't know if the '99 has the same system as the '92 - '95 though.

You can "jump" the starter and roll the engine over without the key on, but it will not start because nothing else needed to run the engine has power at that time without the key "on".

If it does have a remote starter maybe a signal from a neighbors remote is starting it.
But what are the chances of that.

I agree. I can't think of any way the car would be able to start on its own, without a remote start. For now, I'd suggest that you disconnect the battery until a solution is found. Start searching under the dash for anything that doesn't appear to be OEM.

Guy at the shop said he never heard of that. He said it might only be the ignition wires that are shorting out. IDK can you say supernatural?

I think there was a movie about this once, the car that was alive and went after people or something of that nature, what was the name of it?

Anywayz, I'd really make sure there'* no remote start or something non-oem in there like even an alarm with ignition cut-off that'* aftermarket? And yeah, I agree, damn unsafe if you plan on working on the car. D/C that battery and start checking everything.
