Recently my check engine light came on it said misfire on number 3 cylinder. I took it to a gargae and they replaced the spark plugs and wires, they also replaced the transmission filter.

My car has 112,000 miles on it and I have only had it out of the garagr one day, it is hesitating and when the engine gets warm and your foot is on the gas you hear a whining noise. The check engine light has just came back on.

What could this be?

Does anyone think this could be an intake problem? I am just stumped on this one. I drove it from the garage a total of 20 miles and the check engine light pops back on, and is sputtering. When the engine is warm and you give it gas it whines pretty loud.

With that many miles on the motor I would start suspecting the UIM. Have you kept an eye on your coolant level lately? When my intake manifold went, it was sucking in coolant. Best way to tell is to take off your throttle body and look for any holes popping up around the coolant and egr passages. If so, you have a few options: buy a new manifold (aftermarket) or send a PM to Bob Dillon as he resleeves these manifolds and makes them work like new, probably for much less than a new manifold will cost ya.

Are you low on coolant? That would be your first indication of a gasket or UIM issue. Keep a close eye on the coolant. I've replaced my UIM, UIM gasket, TB gasket, and LIM gaskets twice in 115,000 miles.

On a side note, get the car rescanned. Post back what the code is.

I had them re scan my computer and the same numbers came back up 3 & 5. We are going to change the coils, they have never been changed before.

But we still cant find the source for the whining noise, seems like it'* coming from under the water pump which is brand new.

if number 3 and 5 are both misfiring i would definately say coil.

as for the whining noise.... could it be a supercharger? lol...

3 and 6 are a common coil, not 3 and 5.

You almost got me, too! But I saw this after my second cuf of coppee.

Swap coils if you suspect one, and see if the misfire moves. Buying new coils is expensive. Better yet, try this:

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=33

I suspect a plug and/or wire. Check the resistance of the front three (1, 3, 5) wires and post them here. Pull the number 1, 3 and 5 plugs and compare them visually.
