1996 hood wont open

1996 hood wont open

I believe the release cable has broken as there is no tension on the handle anymore.
I removed grill but cant see much or get to the latch anyway.

options ?

I got it. it was just the plastic tab holding the cable near the latch(causing slack cable). lucky me.

Wow great job!

Give it a shot of WD40 or LPS-2 or some other type of lube for future use.

That happened to me once. Now I lube the latch almost every time I look at it.

Cut a big hole in the middle of the hood just in-case.

Pretty common problem, just fixed it on my mom'* Park Avenue. White cylinder that'* meant to be behind the metal fixture and secure the cable came loose and slipped through the hole.
