Default 1996 Bonneville getting 16 mpg and running rough at start up

I have a 1996 Bonneville SE that is only getting 16 miles per gallon! When its cold it will start then die instantly unless I am giving it throttle and rev it up until engine runs smooth (shakes and sounds like its missing or bogging right away). I used a diagnostic tester and it says that it is the crank sensor but I was wondering if it could be another sensor messing up that sensor?

Anyone have similar problems or any Ideas?

thanks,

MAF could be dirty/bad. I may recommend cleaning TB to rule that out. There'* an article in techinfo on everything you want to be sure to get.

I am going to sound like an idiot but what does MAF and TB stand for?

MAF = Mass Air Flow
TB = Throttle Body
