Hi,

I'm new in this forum, I've been looking at posts searching for an answer to this problem. My car'* engine starts missing when idle, the rpms go down to about 500, and many times it dies on me. This problem is driving me crazy becuase, it doesn't happen ALL the time, the car can run fine for days, then it starts missing and stalling, then it runs fine again, and so on. I took it to the mechanic and they replaced the crank sensor. I've also replaced the fuel filter and the O2 sensor. The O2 sensor I replaced yesterday, ran fine when I tested it, then this morning started missing and stalling when idle, check engine light would come on also and the rpms would go up and down like crazy when idle. Any suggestions?

I would look at the coil pack first.

Check for a vacuum leak, and also clean the throttle body, clean the Intake Air control (IAC) on the throttle body.

Go pull the codes. Your car is trying to tell you what'* wrong. It stores codes in memory, so if the light is out, the codes should still be there.

Since you have codes..that'll help greatly.

This shouldn't be vacuum lines, because vacuum lines aren't intermittant. Theoretically it shouldn't be a coil pack either ...because for that to be intermittant, we'd be relying on different humidity etc to trigger an issue. It'* not very likely.
