I have a 1994 Bonneville SSEi 145,000 miles. Just got it back fron the shop, had to put a new water pump, front engine cover and new idler tension pulley. Drove the car for two days when I noticed the oil pressure was lower and the lifters where ticking.
I pulled over and checked the oil, the level was fine but it was very thin. Is there any way gas can be getting into the engine and thining it out? :(

As a second thought I recently replaced the radiator if that sheds any light

yes fuel blowby can go thru a fewways.. and thru cylinder is the easiest when it'* from a cold start since not all the parts have not expanded at the same rate. What kind of oil are you using and weight of it? IMO if you're between 20-100 PSI.. theres oil flow.. so thats a good thing... wat'* your oil pressure reading?

I'm running 10-40, the oil pressure at idle is about 20 when hot and around forty when driving.
It was always around 35 when hot and fifty when driving.

I'm running the standard factory plugs and wires.
I did notice the smell of oil and gas when I got back into the car after driving for a short time. :?

How many miles have you gone since your last change???If you're close to or overdue for an oil change....A lot of vapors from the cylinders can settle in there.

It'* was due for an oil change 3,500 mile :( I was going to do it when I was changing the water pump. I have both of the factory manuals, they don't explain much! Gave up and brought it to the dealerit was a little cold working out side 25 with a 10 mile an hour wind! I have a new set of plugs and wires that I did not change yet. The car has been running a little rough the last few weeks. If the plugs where fouling do you think it could have been getting gas into the crank case and diluting the oil? The dealer changed the oil and filter after changing the front engine cover.

Yeah...The rough runnig part could be a factor.....Chances are if it'* running rough, aren't getting a real effeicent burn and getting a lot of unburned fuel leaking out of the cylinders into the crank case after shut down?

How about a leaking fuel injector? One that never shuts off but drips under pressure?

If the oil smells like gas, you really need to fix the problem. Gasoline really reduces oil'* ability to protect the moving parts.

Yep jr's3800, could be a bad FPR too. But with one leaking badly enough to significantly dilute the crancase oil, you would think he would be experiencing hot start problems.

Could be either the fpr or leaking injectors...fpr is easy and cheap...id try that first...injectors are expensive...also hard to find which one is leaking...
